Specialist Sexual Violence Support Line Worker (Bank)
About this role

ARCH Teesside is looking for a skilled, passionate, and professional Support Line Worker to join the team as a member of Bank staff.

ARCH is working in partnership with Rape Crisis England & Wales to deliver a 24-hour Support Line for survivors of sexual violence. The service will provide high-quality, trauma-informed telephone and webchat support and signposting information to survivors of non-recent and recent sexual violence across England and Wales.

We are looking for a woman with excellent communication skills and the ability to provide non-judgemental, non-directive and empowering support to every person who connects to the Support Line. Successful candidates will have experience in providing emotional support on a helpline, a good knowledge and understanding of sexual violence and its impacts and a willingness to work some daytimes, evenings and weekends on an ad-hoc basis.

The post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010 for this role.

Salary: £14.35 per hour
Hours: 4 hour shifts, worked to a rota which covers 8am-12am
Location: Remote Working

  • ARCH Teesside Counselling Service provides therapeutic support for anyone in Middlesbrough, Stockton and Hartlepool who has experienced rape or any form of sexual abuse at any time in their lives and is struggling to cope with their feelings and emotions in relation to these experiences.
  • We also offer support to Men and Boys from Redcar and Cleveland. We work in partnership to support the needs of children and young people.
  • Therapy can be hard work and extremely challenging, especially in the early days. We are unable provide emergency crisis support or work with complex or severe mental health issues. For anyone who is struggling with issues relating to substance misuse, other services should also be considered. 

I confirm that the person being referred does not pose a risk of harm to others, and is not known to Police regarding violent or sexual offences.
