INDEPENDENT SEXUAL VIOLENCE ADVISOR (ISVA)
About this role

Working across Teesside, we have a vacant post within our advocacy team. You will deliver a pro-active service by providing independent, expert, quality support to women, men, and young people who have been affected by rape or sexual abuse within and outside of the criminal justice system. This will involve a combination of emotional and practical support, outreach visits, pre-trial visits, as well as court support.

The successful candidate will have the skills and confidence to work closely with Police, Crown Prosecution Service and other relevant agencies, the ideal candidate will have experience of providing one to one support, managing a busy caseload and will possess an excellent understanding of the impact of sexual violence.

Salary: £26,826.80 – £28,175.24 following successful training
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: Working across Teesside with office location in Middlesbrough
Holidays: Starting at 25 days per annum plus public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time)

  • ARCH Teesside Counselling Service provides therapeutic support for anyone in Middlesbrough, Stockton and Hartlepool who has experienced rape or any form of sexual abuse at any time in their lives and is struggling to cope with their feelings and emotions in relation to these experiences.
  • We also offer support to Men and Boys from Redcar and Cleveland. We work in partnership to support the needs of children and young people.
  • Therapy can be hard work and extremely challenging, especially in the early days. We are unable provide emergency crisis support or work with complex or severe mental health issues. For anyone who is struggling with issues relating to substance misuse, other services should also be considered. 

I confirm that the person being referred does not pose a risk of harm to others, and is not known to Police regarding violent or sexual offences.
