Meet the LESA Service

Hello!

My name is Siobhan, I have worked for Arch Teesside as the Life Enhancement Skill’s Advisor ( LESA ) for nearly 6 years.  Throughout this time, the service has gone through many changes, due to the client’s needs and partly due to covid.

I work part time and am the only LESA at present, therefore, we adapted the service to offer as many clients as possible the LESA support. The LESA service is short term support, if needed I can make referrals into more long-term support agencies.

At ARCH we try to offer a holistic approach to support all clients in most areas of their life. If your Arch worker has highlighted any practical issues, they will, with your consent, make a referral to the LESA service.

I can help with checking that you are receiving all the appropriate benefits and if not, support you with the application process.

I have recently just started running online benefit workshop sessions, which run on the first Wednesday of each month. This workshop explains the full process of claiming Personal Independence Payment. I can also help to complete the forms and attend medical appointments if needed.

If housing is having an impact on your recovery journey, I also run a monthly workshop explaining all the options available for housing needs, from private rented to social housing and supported or emergency accommodation. This workshop runs on the second Wednesday of each month.

Many of ARCH’s clients can find themselves socially isolated so to overcome this I organize a monthly walk and talk session in different locations to get clients out and about and meet others in similar positions. This is the third Wednesday of each month.

If you are struggling with any areas of your life or recovery, please speak to your ARCH worker who can make a referral to the LESA service. Together we can plan how to support you best, in order to try and take away some of your extra stresses, so you can concentrate on your road to recovery.

If you are not getting the support you deserve within an education setting or workplace , I can help liaise with the setting and help you to get the correct support.

I am currently in the process of setting up a third online workshop to look at the cost of living increases, what support is available to you and where applicable, support with grant applications.

I , like the rest of Team Arch are a 100 % committed to supporting  clients and will do our best to get you the correct support and the help that you deserve 😊
